The One Thousand Mile Texas Flag. Photographed on 4X5 at @phootcamp with @nuzz ‘s film and camera and lighting by Matthew Mahon. I knew I wanted to shoot some 4X5 at some point during phootcamp, but wasn’t sure what would be the best subject. After our Phootenany, I chose this weathered flag that traveled bound to our RV as the perfect 4X5 subject. All the detail, the cheap frayed fabric, the plaster adobe wall, the chinese grommets, the dirty whites, the sewn edges. It was all this detail that motivated me to capture with 4X5 but I only needed one more thing to bring this together. Thats when I grabbed a pencil and wrote Phoot 2011 in the bottom left corner.
